11:32 AM - AMD64 0.3-CURRENT snapshot

I just posted the first AMD64 snapshot to the FTP server for CURRENT since 0.2.  It does not include mports or packages, but will allow you to install MidnightBSD 0.3 to get up to date hardware support and try out features such as mport tools / libmport, and ZFS.

Yes, you will be able to upgrade to 0.3-RELEASE from a snapshot. It is possible to download mports from CVS or FTP to use on a snapshot as well. I just didn't include them on the iso. Packages are typically generated for releases. I occasionally post some on the ftp server for 0.3-CURRENT. Our long term plan is to have Magus generate packages periodically (weekly?) for releases and push them out if there were no problems.

If I install that, would I be able to upgrade it to the definitive 0.3 when available? Will I then have mports and packages?
